Code Compliant Gas Detection Systems

A large part of Ino-Tek’s business is providing Turnkey, Code Compliant, Gas Detection and Emergency Alarm Systems. We create code compliant gas detection systems for our customers from design concept to system certification.

Prior to the adoption of the International Codes, systems were typically designed without a code review. Since this code was adopted, owners and operators are protected from liability if they comply with these codes.

Before these codes were adopted, the customer would work with the manufacturer’s representative for Gas Detection devices. The representative would assist in selecting the proper sensor technology and recommend the appropriate controller. The design of the gas detection system was usually not driven by any particular code or industry standard; but mostly by “good engineering practice” as deemed necessary by the manufacturer’s representative.

Since the advent of the International Building Codes gas detection systems are now properly deemed to be “Emergency Alarm Systems” and actually considered a Fire Protection System per the International Fire Code. Owners who comply with these Codes are provided the same protection from liability that all compliant owners and operators enjoy.

The codes, standards and recommended practices in place that direct the design of these systems are completely understood by Ino-Tek.

How the hazards are to be identified.
How to properly locate and select the quantity of sensors that are required.
How the systems are to be permitted.
When the system design is to be submitted.
The process to obtain design approval.
The process for acceptance testing with the
Authority Having Jurisdiction. (AHJ)
System permanent site records.
System service and calibration performance and record keeping.
Annual inspections and operational audits.
